Day 3: Beijing

The highlight will come today as you climb the amazing Great Wall at Badaling section in the suburb. The Great Wall is a priceless heritage left by the Chinese ancestry. Can you imagine how the laboring people in ancient times made such a great project by their hands? Without modern machines, equipments and construction materials, the Wall was well designed and built in accordance with the local geographical features. Just when you stand on the Wall and see its grandness, you will find it is no wonder that Great Wall has the vigor to surprise the whole world. Lunch is not included. Our guide will be pleased to give you some suggestions upon your request. On the way back to the downtown area, while passing by the Bird’s Nest, also called the Olympic National Stadium, we will make a brief stop for you to take some pictures of the huge nest. Then have a traditional Hutong rickshaw tour in the afternoon.

Our suggestion: It will be an energy consuming day if you climb the Great Wall and walk along the Sacred Way. There are lots of steps on the Great Wall, so a pair of shoes suitable for walking may ease you somewhat. Along the way to the entrance of the Great Wall, there are many vendors selling various souvenirs who are always aggressive. They will keep saying hello to you, waving their goods in hand. If you are not interested or have no intention of buying, you can just ignore them and walk on by. When climbing the Great Wall, bringing a bottle of water is a wise idea, especially if you are traveling in summer. A good supply of water is necessary to avoid dehydration.
